Al Parker and Steve Taylor's company. Director Steve Scott talked about merging with them in 1982.
When filming Taxi Driver Parker found and kept a sign for a cow milking company: "Surge - Faster Milking, Cleaner Milk." From this he chose his company name.
The two began the company with no backing and created only print magazines but customers kept asking if there were 8mm films that went with them.
