Deveau was an architectural and graphic designer. He would preview his films at his home and many coveted the invitation to the events which were followed by a big buffet.

Lover to Bob Alvarez, who along with Sal Mineo, talked Deveau into doing gay films.

Deveau said that he was amazed that many of his performers, who he felt were basically stupid, could, on screen, "come across with such finesse, poise, carriage and character" and felt he got some of the best performances out of people he couldn't stand.

Deveau both directed films and produced films at Hand-In-Hand studio that he founded along with Alvarez and Jaap Penraat. He favored story line development in his videos.
