De Rome was born in the South of France but raised is Kent, England working in the film industry in Europe for 10 years before coming to the U.S. De Rome worked in the civil rights movement in the South including getting arrested. Falling in love with New Orleans he worked in the theater there and started doing his own sex films with an 8mm camera creating a small library of his own creations. One of those creations, Hot Pants, won first prize at the Wet Dream Film Festival in Amsterdam in 1971. Jack Deveau too some of these home movies and created The Erotic Fims of Peter de Rome. De Rome used more African-American performers that was common at the time becaue of a special affinity. His best film:Adam & Yves.
