Jérôme says:
Everything that Kevin Kratz (not the German soccer player!) ever directed and released under his own name came out in Europe first as a Videozana title. His activity goes roughly from the early 1990s to 2002. His activity goes roughly from the early 1990s to 2002. He started importing Czech films from Germany, buying/trading Gero/Vito titles, in the second half of 1998, and his French films got distributed in Germany by Vito Video. Kratz was struck by Robert Bogg's films and decided it would be good business to clearly identify Robert's films as such. He also made clear the origination of those films.
It must have been profitable because others started to follow that pattern. Whether it was Gero or Man's Best, it was these imports that proved fatal to him. At the end of 2002, a postal worker in some suburban post office noticed a package that had been accidentally ripped open and that the boys on the cover of some tapes looked very boyish and called the police. So the police raided the mail-order office and Kratz' residence. The tapes were eventually found to be OK, but it seems they discovered some pretty damning evidence concerning Kratz private activities and sexual mores. Fact is, Kratz and his partner spent some time in jail while waiting to be charged and for a formal inquiry to start (that's the French way!). I am not sure what the status of the case is, if it ever went to court, but this was enough to utterly destroy Kratz and Videozana with everyone too nervous to touch his stuff any more.
