In our newspapers we read of how the cops in New York and San Francisco set about catching purse snatchers by dressing their cops up in women's attire and having them walk in areas where the culprits might be operating. In our story Tom Courtney plays the police captain, Ron Taylor is the big burly motorcycle cop, and Kelly Moore is the hood purse snatcher.
Courtney calls Ron in and shows him [a] poster of the wanted criminal and he gives Ron the wig and clothes he must don and helps him outfit himself. Ron doesn't like the idea but realizes he will lose his job if he refuses.
Dressed as a fetching blond, the rugged motorcycle cop sits on a park bench and coyly flirts with the young hood who happens along. Sure enough the hood tries to steal the purse, but he is also smart enough to get Ron's gun away and he forces Ron to remove his phony get-up. At one point Ron overcomes him and the wrestling match gets going good. Of course righteousness triumphs and the hood is punished, and is left turned upside down in a park ash can... To say that the "stars" of this film were temperamental would be the understatement of the year. One was so upset that he actually burst into tears. The one who played the hood tries to carry the role into real life, and currently is facing a civil suit for malicious damage...
When Tom and Kelly baited him, Ron was so upset he threw off his wig and threatened to walk off the picture and it was only by a combination of cajoling and threats of our own that we were able to get him to finish the film.
So if anyone doesn't appreciate our hard work after so many sacrifices, you can guess just about what we thing about them!
