Notes from Madd Coww: Jon Vincent was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and attended LSU on a baseball scholarship. After LSU, he had a brief professional career with the Kansas City Royals and that career and Jon's first marriage to a woman was ended due to Jon's drug use. Jon moved to the West Coast, and got into hustling and eventually into porn films around 1987. In porn films, he was invariably a top, and he was much in demand due to his remarkable talent for dirty talk. I don't recall him in any bondage or S&M scenes. To say that Jon was conflicted would be a major understatement. The general persona conveyed in his films was that of a mildly homophobic "gay for pay" performer. But there was more to it. Jon was probably bisexual, but I think his "gay side" only increased his self-hatred. He had been sexually abused repeatedly by a neighbor when he was five years old. And his chronic substance abuse (everything from alcohol to heroin) further complicated the situation. Projected onto this background was a secret love affair with Joey Stefano, who also was a chronic substance abuser. Jon's continued substance abuse and the lack of any meaningful counseling or psychotherapy led to the inevitable. Jon died in 2000 of an accidental overdose of intentionally-ingested heroin and cocaine. ------ He said he was sexually abused as a chile. He had a son who was 19 at the time of his father's death. In a Manshots interview he identified himself as gay, other times as bisexual. He had been a Chipendale's dancer. |
