Bob Mizer lists him as being born in Minnesota. Others say Idaho. Discovered at a bus station in L.A. by scout Darby Summers. Mizer often wrote that he did not understand the popularity of Idol's pictures. By 1972 Mizer was complaining that Idol was just a shadow of the athlete he had been.
The 1973 Physique Pictorial lists a 4th AMG film as S-11 "with 6 other athletes" but that film number doesn't sound correct.
