With its cast of almost two dozen performers, 1991's "Powertool 2: Breaking Out" is one prison sentence I didn't mind serving out. But, unlike its predecessor, Lex Baldwin takes the lead in this one (Jeff Stryker starred in "Powertool," read the full review by Martin Cox below).
Lex Baldwin is a dreamy muscle man with dark hair and bushy eyebrows and his own talented equipment downstairs. Before the opening credits, he and Mike Henson, with a lean body, tattoos on his arm and almost a buzz-cut, are eying each other. Mike comes over and almost mauls Lex, but Lex is leery about any public displays. Seeing an abandoned truck, Mike suggests they go inside and have some fun. Inside the semi, he absolutely worships his partner. When Mike has unzipped Lex's jeans and pulled out his missile, he slobbers over it with all his might, licking like a man in heat. Lex even steps over a crate and pokes his buns out so that Mike can munch his nether regions. Mike eventually rides Lex's big rod in a number of positions, finishing by sitting and straddling Lex's lap and jerking off. When he has blown, Mike stands and lets Lex spray all over his chest. Just as the men are finishing and getting dressed, though, they hear a siren and realize the police are outside. It turns out the truck has been stolen and Mike and Lex are suspects.
Lex is taken to the slammer, where the other inmates have a field day as he walks past them. The catty remarks fly by hastily by the cooped-up men, including Ryan Yeager as an artist. There's even a very droll cameo by Chi Chi LaRue as a male warden.
After Lex has been locked up, another inmate is thrown into a cell with the Beast, a man-creature who tears inmates apart. As the Beast manhandles his prey, guard Woody Long strips down nearby and starts pulling his long peter until he milks it to a thick climax. (A very beautiful man, Long also appeared in straight porn during this period.)
Besides Lex Baldwin, another horse-dicked inmate is Tony DeMarco, a strapping lad with curly pubic hair and a gigantic cock. He convinces a guard to let him inside the cell with horny and blond David Rockmore, the prison slut. Ted Matthews watches as David inhales Tony's stiff dick, and then joins in -- he and David gag on Tony's salami in a thrilling scene. Before the three can really get more into the action, Tony is dragged from the group and put back in a cell alone. Ted and David continue, this time working their oral talents on each other. After an exchange of blowjobs, Ted rims David's little pucker adorably well, then lifts David's legs to the ceiling and pummels his behind. At first Ted's thrusts are smooth and measured, then he slams in with his whole body, David's butt shaking as it is penetrated. Tony can only look on with jealously, yanking his fat slab. He gets so horny that he reclines on his bunk and gets himself off.
My favorite sequence finds Ryan Yeager fantasizing about sex with Dolph Knight. In his fantasy, while Yeager is resting on a bale of hay, Dolph walks toward him naked, his almost hairless body looking rather fetching. Planting a kiss on Ryan, Dolph wakes him up. Ryan responds by feasting on Dolph's cock and sucking like a madman. He even sticks his tongue up Dolph's sweet hole before he returns to his ace job of fellating him. In an extremely sensual moment, Ryan jerks and cums while Dolph's erection is inside his mouth. Dolph next bends little Ryan over the bale of a hay and takes his sweet ass. Ryan was always versatile as a performer, but this is perhaps his most alluring turn as a bottom, yelling at Dolph to fuck him, one moment looking like he is in pain and the next rolling his eyes with delight. Dolph is an excellent top, and the duo wind up banging with Ryan almost in a fetal position on his back, his ass being stretched open.
A little bit later, Ryan fights with a guard, tries to escape and is killed. His ear is sliced off and shown to other potential escapees.
In almost a reprise of the classic Jeff Stryker-Jeff Converse scene from "Powertool," Jeff returns to get it on, this time with Lex Baldwin. Jeff is as carnal as ever, seducing Lex as he scrubs the floor with a rag. Jeff grabs the rag and wets Lex's chest, then rubs up against Lex's muscular frame. This is very similar to the first scene as well, with Lex standing and offering nothing in the sense of reciprocation. Jeff takes every inch of Lex in his mouth, then grabs a table and lets Lex plow into his inviting ass as well. After Lex has finished with Jeff, they concoct a plan to escape.
In the shower stall sometime later Marc Saber, Tom Steele and Hank Sterling lather up. As fate would have it -- not! -- Marc drops his soap and the other two swarm in on him. Marc is fed hardons at both ends, with Hank stuffing his mouth and Tom taking his buttocks. Their sex seems to get more fiery by the moment, and the two guards watching, Chance Caldwell and Jack Dillon, are so turned on they doff their uniforms and join in. Soon, six more inmates -- Dallas Taylor, Dan Thomas, Danny Summers, Steve Regis, Cole Phillips, Adam Archer and Nick Manetti -- have jumped into the shower, and the couplings fly left and right. Jack does finds his way up Marc's behind while at least three others waves their poles right at Marc's hungry throat. Seizing their opportunity, Lex and Jeff grab the uniforms, put them on and attack the warden. Lex is able to flee, Jeff stays behind to take care of the warden, and escape to freedom.
If its individual moments can't compare to the original "Powertool," then "Powertool 2: Breaking Out" can be relished for its energy and its campy funny moments, most involving Chi Chi LaRue. It also has one of the most elaborate star-studded casts in porn history.
