"Refocus: The Final Climax" starts where "Focus" stopped, Detective Joe Wicht interrogating Cole Streets (and giving us a nice review of what happened in the first film). Cole relates how he saw David one more time after they broke up, randomly on the street. Bright-eyed Cole, whom not many would be able to resist, is brushed off by David, so hot he's the kind an ex-boyfriend couldn't forget about so easily. Cole returns home to watching the mysterious sex scene he's been sent, which starts his porn idol Steve Cruz, Adam Killian and Ricky Sinz. The scene crackles with tension until Cole realizes there had to be a fourth person in the room. That may seem mundane to anyone who has ever figured out a "Murder, She Wrote" episode before the first commercial break, but it's actually a beautiful little porn in-joke. On top of the hand-held cameras, there was another camera filming the three guys having sex, wasn't there? We next see Ryan being beaten and raped by a mysterious man as Cole races to get to him. It's too late. Ryan is dead when Cole gets there, and of course his fingerprints will be left all over the scene of the crime. The killer has left his camera, on purpose, showing the rape and murder of Ryan. He also finds an envelope of clippings Bruno had given Ryan to show Cole who the murderer is. He is shocked to find out it's ... Please, I'm not going to be tricked into revealing the ending. Actually, after the murderer is revealed, the story continues, but to say any more would be ruining a stellar mystery (and one last fabulous sex scene which I'm really bummed to say I can't describe in detail. A truly warped ending brings up issues like the thrill of adventure-seeking that wouldn't normally be found in porn, but "Focus/Refocus" is unlike most porn. It's gritty emotion and determined to be different make it work as well as it does. Happy endings (of the plot sort) are for Disney movies.
