Ostensibly, “Rough/Tender” is an homage to two completely different types of sex, the sweet and the salty. However, director Lucas Kazan is far too smart to let anything be that black and white. While some scenes are created rough and others tender, there are vast surprises to be found throughout. He lets his perfect models engage in perfect sex, no matter what the intention. In the Lucas Kazan cannon, “Rough/Tender” may be a smaller entry, not one of his most elaborate, but that doesn’t stop it from being as impressive as the others, simply a shorter version of what he does better than anyone.
Bathed in blue darkness in an Italian manse, a serious-looking Philippe Delvaux, in glasses, finds hooker Jean Franko online, and finally calls him.
