It's unimaginable that anyone but Falcon Studios will ever be able to put out a 40th Anniversary DVD box set. There are other gay porn companies that have vaults going back nearly as long, but they are not as well-preserved and not as deserving. From the very beginning, Falcon was among the leading innovators of gay pornography and as the decades tumbled by, would be THE studio of record. The catalogue at Falcon is priceless. It's a treasure trove that contains work by nearly every important and beloved star and director in all of gay porn. With six discs full of unbelievably hot scenes, this romp through the past is bound to be a memory-lighter for many who probably started their gay porn viewing with Falcon movies or else a history lesson in the genre for those seeing many of these scenes for the first time. In the age before Internet porn, when the only ways to see it were to go to a movie theater or get it in the mail, there were legends. There was a time when being a Falcon man (exclusives came later) was a guaranteed fan base and you'll see nearly every porn legend at work across the six discs. Going all the way back to the beginning of the time machine seems a whole different world. We also get our first megastars here. Al Parker and Casey Donovan were fantasy men of the 70s, but it's only those two and a few others truly remembered decades later. We're up to FVP-30 and "Biker's Liberty" with Mac Turner and Tim Kramer, a match-up of a biking leatherman and a sailor, two die-hard gay porn types. The first scene is from "Down Home," amazingly the 78th Falcon release (and that doesn't include the Mustang, Jocks, Matt Sterling and International lines)! Disc 4
The mid-1990s was a high-water mark for gay porn. There were tons of companies with huge budgets churning out stars and fantastic films, so Falcon had to work harder to maintain its place at the top of the heap. With John Rutherford at the helm through much of this period, success was assured. The first golden age of porn was certainly at its inception, but if you are looking for the time when it really seemed to an actual adult, my advice would be to look at this period. This was the era went Falcon spared no expense, sending a convoy of models to exotic locations around the world for one gigantic king-sized production per year on top of all the other huge affairs.
Things don't get better than the orgy scene from "The Chosen," which stars one of my top-five favorite performers ever, the insatiable bottom Derek Cameron, whose stunning eyes were matched only by what his ass could handle. He's the clearest star of this scene, which overflows with awesome talent. This movie was a heavily-plotted one and pulled out of context, it's hard to understand what's going on, but just enjoy the sex, because it's one of Falcon's greatest orgies. Billy may be the star exclusive here, but Michel steals the scene right out from under him even before getting double penetrated. We're up to FVP-138, "Stroked," for a simpler scene with just Drew Damon and Tristan Paris. It's a lovely hot tub scene that looks a little lost on a disc covering such behemoth productions. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful scene, particularly the fucking and the cum-shots.
Disc 6
By the time of the scenes on the fifth disc, Falcon had hit its zenith, not that it wasn't still capable of some of the best scenes porn had to offer, as displayed here. But, rudderless behind the scenes, the budgets got smaller, the exclusives not always so top-notch, but it's still Falcon, and everyone still wanted to work for Falcon. Other studios were now making movies every bit as forceful, but Falcon still kept going, building on what it had always been, playing to its strengths.
Falcon started to change its image a bit, so that its exclusives were not necessarily stunning pretty boys with massive cocks. There were a healthy amount of power bottoms, and even some rougher, rugged and even tattooed guys. One of the new type of Falcon Exclusives was Addison Scott, a tornado of sexual energy, shown well in a scene from "Defined," with another of porn's classic unsung heroes, Arpad Miklos, managing to dwarf even a gigantic man like Addison, as well as Eric Leneau. At one point, Eric is upside down on boxing ring ropes with bald Addison blowing him and hairy Arpad getting sucked. It's clever and fun and Eric works like a champ. It's taken until FVP-108, "Hooked," to get to Matthew Rush, the most well-known and longest-lasting of Falcon's exclusives coming with the new millennium. Matthew is outrageously buff, his lips as big as his muscles. Colby was a performer who always brought the oxygen to a scene, but Matthew is actually quite engaging here, playing top amazingly well. Still ranking as one of my favorite porn flicks of all time is "Deep South: The Big Easy," a gigantic production revolving around a crime in New Orleans. The star was fresh-scrubbed Josh Weston, the other Falcon giant in the first decade of the 21st Century. The scene used here is one with Josh and Tommy Brandt, and if not the best scene from this movie, one that certainly shows why Josh had such star power. Just look at that red patch of pubic hair, is there anything prettier? From "Through the Woods" we have tattooed skater-dude type Pierre Fitch, working here with D.C. Chandler, a hardworking second-stringer with a gigantic uncut cock who uses it to the fullest with Pierre's ass ready to take it all. Another insanely big orgy scene from "Aftershock: Part 2" brings back Matthew Rush, along with donkey-dicked Chad Hunt, giving bottom Bret Wolfe, massive hulk Colton Ford and the man who was for years at the top of the casting list for every studio, the incomparable Blake Harper.
